I would define it as goal oriented play (not including the goal "kill
other player n times").

I would not mix such levels. Maybe a level could define a goal for
single player that is ignored for deathmatch (to reuse the levels in
different game modes).
I think there should be several game modes in airstrike, e.g. goal
oriented single player/cooperative play and two player deathmatch. The
current level systems seems to support this by special levels for each
game mode, though I don't know if it is possible to specify the number
(or name) of the next level (to stay in one type of levels).

I did not yet test it thorougly, but atleast sometimes after restarting
a level with F5 the game segfaults after triggering a level-done or
level-fail.
