On my server, the startupscript dont work when I start it from within 
the folder;

[mark at uplink ~/airborne/UnrealEngine3/Binaries]$ ./mohaserver
exec: ./mohaserver-bin: not found
[mark at uplink ~/airborne/UnrealEngine3/Binaries]$ cd ~
[mark at uplink ~]$ airborne/UnrealEngine3/Binaries/mohaserver

0.000: Log:  ... running in INSTALLED mode

0.007: Init: Epic Internal: 0
...

Im on a FreeBSD 6.1 with Linux compat though.. Maybe that could be why.

Minte, could you do a MD5 hash of 
airborne-linux-server-01112008.tar.bz2? And where did you download it from?
