- Backup system now in place (posted 2001-11-22 00:00:00 by icculus):
After no less than three failed attempts (for three different reasons) to make a successful backup, I decided it was time to ditch the CD-RW approach and get a tape backup system in place. The system seems to be working well now. Thank you to everyone for your patience; between the tape drive setup, kernel patch debugging, and attempts to construct a stable test box for Serious Sam, icculus.org has had a LOT of hardware pass through it in the past two days (three different video cards, a SCSI adapter, two CD-ROM drives, and two tape drives, to be specific), and a little more downtime than I would have liked. Thanks go out to those that made this happen: Don Roeber for the drives (he got ten drives for ten bucks with the promise that at least a few of them were bound to work), Gregory S. Read for the Dirty Discount, Daniel Chen for cash that went towards a SCSI card and tapes, and the rest of usual suspects that give me something worth backing up. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving!
