What the heck!
In the leaked version of the new doctor who show it was a good regular theme.
In this broadcast version they've remixed it :(

Apparently that was a bug in gdb 6.0-r1 (at least the gentoo version)
I set that box up for ~amd64 on gdb and the newer version worked fine.

MY GOOGLE AD-SENSE IS TINGLING!
I signed up for google's ad-sense today, for time doctor dot org.
Maybe it'll pay the yearly registration fees. I don't know, we'll see.
I have no idea how popular/not the site has been since awstats on i.o has
been disabled for like a year or two now, and I never bothered to parse
the logs I downloaded. I would assume not-very since when I did read
the logs the most popular thing was the boycott cedega/winex campaign,
and the rest of the site went pretty much ignored by the internet populace.
Probably due to too many in-jokes (c'mon, Dustin's face is worn out, and
nobody knows who he is despite his posting on LG).

I should mention that afaik ryan has a policy of no ads on icculus.org
stuff, and I don't want banners or adwords or anything on td.o, so it will
just be a search box linked only from td.o pages. The search box's
resulting google-page-with-adwords is what might get me enough tenths
of a cent to buy a penny candy.
Nobody normally cares, but I didn't want to get flamed out of existence
for doing this. I'd like to also set it up so the search box is only on
certain pages. I sure as hell don't want to profit from the boycott cedega
thing. Who knows, they'll probably turn me down for even joking about
Libel/slander.

I should mention that if a single person complains, I'll remove the idea
entirely, I haven't really thought this out and I've been awake too long.
What drew my attention to it was the dansdata.com search box, I was
trying to replicate that functionality since td.o has desperately needed
one, when I saw some gunk in the code around it. It turned out that gunk
was google ad sense stuff.

We gave up on Linux for the house raid yesterday when the Linux Promise
raid drivers failed. I'm really dismayed at the lack of support promise
has for Linux, but we just can't afford to spend $240+ on a 3Ware
replacement controller which doesn't even have the same awesome RAM
module support as the Promise.

So I guess Promise is good hardware, with poor Linux support.
I also gave up on linux firewire ever going anywhere and unsubscribed
from the linux 1394 user list.
It was lots of people asking questions, a couple developers trying to help,
and nobody ever seeming to really fix anything in the drivers.

It turned out in the end that when we tried our external firewire box
full o' hard drive enclosure under windows xp, it was slow anyway...

21:16 < icculus> I like how everyone is referring to rambling on in irc as "turning into
  Mongoose".

11:16 < Crusader> CAMP BUCCA, IRAQ -- U.S. military police Friday thwarted a massive escape
attempt by suspected insurgents and terrorists from this southern Iraq
Army base that houses more than 6,000 detainees when they uncovered a
600-foot tunnel the detainees had dug under their compound.
11:16 < Crusader> "We were very close to a very bad thing," Major Gen. William Brandenburg
said Friday after troops under his command discovered the tunnel that
prisoners had painstakingly dug with the help of makeshift tools.
11:16 < Crusader> Within hours of the discovery on the first tunnel, a second tunnel of
about 300 feet was detected under an adjoining compound in the camp,
  which holds 6,049 detainees.
11:17 <@Briareos> awesome
11:17 <@Briareos> tunnels rock
11:17 < Crusader> http://www.thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/032305/escape
.html
11:17 < Crusader> The prisoners had used a cut-away five-gallon gas can attached to a
60-foot-long rope to haul the sandy soil out of the tunnel. They
apparently used makeshift tools to dig and reinforce the tunnel, and
covered the entry point inside the compound with a false floor made from
wooden slats from their beds, which in turn they concealed under two feet
  of dirt.
11:17 <@Briareos> genius
11:18 < zakk> HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGAN!!!

This is the awesomest RAID driver ever, it keeps writing to the RAID
after it marks a drive as failed.

It is like promise hired two elbonians to write and test this driver.

What the hell has gone wrong with Linux in the last couple years
I gave up on firewire raid because it wasn't supported well enough.
I try this 200+ dollar hardware raid card that even has extra ram
on it, and the only driver is a partial source driver for 2.4...

It isn't like this is some no-name 10 dollar piece of crap, it's a
god damned Promise that advertises Linux support on the box.

For fucks sake, this is server hardware. Linux is supposed
to at the very least be a server operating system.
Hell, it's even ENTERPRISE HARDWARE, it's not supported!

Besides playing nethack I've also
just gotten into Phoenix Online :>
